Does my child need to know how to wakeboard?

No! Every experience level is welcome. From beginner to advanced Camp Wake will work with each camper at their level of experience. Campers will be grouped on the boats by experience level.


Does my child have to know how to swim?

Yes! It is very important for your child to be comfortable and confident in and around
the water. Wakeboarding is all about being in open water. In order for your child to
get the most out of their Camp Wake experience they will have to pass an open water swim test.


Do you provide all wakeboarding equipment?

Yes! All wakeboarding equipment is provided by Camp Wake.

Each camper will be issued:
1. One US Coast Guard Approved life jacket
2. One Wakeboard with Boots
3. One Wakeboarding Helmet



Do you use quality equipment?

Yes! Liquid Force, a leading provider of wakeboarding equipment,
is our primary source.


Can my child room with a friend?

Yes! Please list any roommate requests on your registration form. We will take
requests on a first come first serve basis. Late requests may not be able to be accommodated as sessions are filled.


What is Camp Wake's counselor to camper ratio?

Camp Wake offers one counselor to every six campers. While on the boats
there is one designated boat driver and one wakeboarding coach per six campers
(1 to 3 ratio).


My child has special dietary needs. Can Camp Wake work with those needs?

Yes! Please give us as much information about your child’s special dietary needs
so we can work with our food suppliers and food preparers to accommodate those needs. Please understand that Camp Wake will need adequate notice prior to your child’s arrival at camp to make those preparations. Late notifications may not be able
to be accommodated.


Can my child be dropped off early/late or picked up early/late?

Yes! Arrangements must be made at least 30 days prior to the start of your child’s session. There are no refunds for late arrivals or early departures.


Can Camp Wake pickup or drop off my child at the airport?

Yes! There is an additional transportation fee for this service and arrangements
must be made at least 60 days prior to the start of your child’s session. Airport transportation is only available from Houston Intercontinental Airport IAH.


Can my child stay through the weekend?

Yes! Weekend accommodations are available on a first come, first serve basis
for an additional fee. Camp Wake needs 60 days advanced notice for this service
and fees will vary depending on activities you would like your child to participate in (private lessons vs. fishing or free swim).


Do you have medical personnel on the premises?

Yes! A camp nurse will be available to handle minor injuries or illnesses or decide
if a camper needs to see a doctor. All of our counselors are certified in CPR,
First Aid and have had training in how to handle camp or boating emergencies.
Camp Wake has worked with the local fire and rescue services on emergency procedures.


What type of boats do you use?

All camp boats are wakeboarding specific. We use the Tige’ model ‘24 Ve.
Tige’ boats are manufactured specifically for wakeboarding or water skiing
and have a state of the art manufacturing facility here in Texas. Boats are
regularly maintained by Texas Tige’ in Conroe, Texas.


How many campers ride on a boat at a time?

Each boating sessions will have six campers, one designated boat driver and
one designated wakeboarding coach.
